A Brief History Of Clane United Clane United was founded in 1973 by a group of young lads who met regularly to play football. Due to great potential among the group, a number of players decided to form a club and Clane United AFC was born. The first pitch, in Richardstown, was provided by Charlie O'Neill and this was the home of Clane United for many years. At the same time they joined the FAI and gained entry to the division three counties league. Over the years the club has grown considerably and in 1992 the club moved to its current ground at The Doctors Road and started to develop it. This expansion has taken place under the watchful eye of several different Chairpersons including Tom Connelly, who held office on three different occasions between 1973 and 1990, Jim Byrne, Joe Donnelly, Donal Curran (the current club president), Pat O'Connell, Peter Donoghue, Fran Mahoney and the current Chairman, Dave Patchell. Under Dave, in 2007, Clane United and Clane Boys merged to make Clane United a club which caters for players aged from 5 years to Seniors. Clane Boys history will be added at a later date.
Role of Honours Clane United AFC won their first trophy back in 1977 when they picked up the Counties Cup under managers Biller Cash and Jim Byrne. They have continued to achieve great things since then. Around 1994, Clane United AFC moved all their teams to the newly formed Kildare Junior Football League.
